“Give a Gift of Life – Donate Today”
Anthony Bates Foundation (ABF) brings life-saving heart screenings to the heart of
your community - free of charge - but needs your donations to save more kids. Please
help us save more lives through your tax-deductible donations to the Anthony Bates Foundation Cardiac Screening Program.
This year, July 31, 2011, marked the 11th Angel Day for Anthony. We also mark an ABF milestone of over 7,000 youth screened with 800 lives changed and/or saved. Plus, ABF Teams across the USA have screened over 150,000 lives due to the ABF Training program.
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a leading killer of young people & athletes
in this country. Many of these deaths could be prevented by heart screenings
for children. ABF provides free and low cost heart screening events, which detect
undiagnosed heart problems in approximately 10% of the young people screened. One
of those could be your child or a child you know.
Here are some frightening facts about kids and heart
disease:
- Heart disease kills more children than any other disease except
cancer.*
- 7,000 to 14,000 children die each year from heart disease.**
- One in 500 people have life-threatening HCM and most are unaware.
- ABF finds 10% of the youth screened have hidden heart issues.
- Out of 25 million youth in this country, 2,500,000 are at risk
Sudden Cardiac Arrest from undetected heart problems.
And here’s the welcome news about heart screenings:
- Heart screenings detect problems like HCM in 10% - one in ten -
of people screened.
- People with HCM can live long, healthy lives, with early diagnosis
and care.
- With proper screening, we could save the lives of 10,000 children
each year or more.
- ABF provides heart screenings, free of charge, to children across
the country.
Here’s what your donation can do:
- $25 pays for a heart screening for one young person
- $50 pays for heart screenings for two young people
- $250 Premium Donation pays for ten heart
screenings and can SAVE THE LIFE of that one person in ten who has a preventable
heart problem. (++ see note)

The Anthony Bates Foundation is a 501 (c)
(3) non-profit organization formed in 2002. We are dedicated to saving young lives through early detection of Hypertrophic
Cardiomyopathy (HCM). The Anthony Bates Foundation is actively promoting public outreach programs through education
and awareness for the need to provide heart screening events for our youth. We offer training for groups that would
like to provide their own events or The Anthony Bates Foundation can coordinate events in your area. Our goal is to
promote heart health education and awareness of HCM.
Through the tireless efforts of our staff and volunteers we have organized over 91 Cardiac Screening Days
since 2001, across the USA. We have provided more than 7,000 free and low cost
echocardiograms and ECG tests to young people. Each screening done at a hospital
or cardiologist’s office could cost a family as much as $1,600 and most insurance companies do not pay for preventative
cardiac screenings for young people. Through our ABF screenings, as many as 10%
of those screened have become aware of undiagnosed heart issues. Plus, our Community
Screening training program has reached other parents and organizations interested in providing screenings in over 30 states
and 4 countries in Europe.
“As parents, we want to do the right thing for our child’s health, but who considers a child
could have heart disease? Community Cardiac Screenings are a great opportunity
for the life of your child.”
Heart Screening
Quest 2020 is intended to screen 1,000,000 youth by the outreach of our offering our Community Cardiac Screening Training
program to people interested in saving the lives of youth.
Per Statistical
data already stated, since Anthony’s death in 2000, out of 77,000 to 154,000 who died, 60,060 died from HCM and may
have been preventable. Only 15% of the youth that die are considered athletes. There are currently 25 million youth in our country and 10% are at risk of SCA –
2.5 million youth need your help!
Help prevent
the heart break of losing a child to an undiagnosed cardiac malady by supporting the Anthony Bates Foundation’s establishment
of a nationwide heart screening program for all children.
