Hi Sharon! You helped save the life of my son when you came to Sonoran Heights Middle School in Surprise and discovered his undiagnosed cardiac condition last February. He had a successful open heart surgery this past September. Thank you for all you do!
DYSART has recently interviewed my son & I and they plan to put an article about it their Community Connect Magazine. I really hope people realize the importance of cardiac screening and how important your foundation is as well! It wasn’t easy to swallow when we found out, but knowing that YOU potentially could have saved my son’s life means so much! Again thank you! I’m hoping our school does another event with you soon.

Sharon,
Just a quick update and a huge thankyou. Last Thursday we took Reece to see a children's cardiologist at Children's Mercy. Let's just say
it was a whirl wind day. We started off with an EKG, saw the doctor, then had an echo done, saw the doctor again, went and had a stress test done, then we're sent to preadmission to have an ablation done this Wednesday. I know this is your passion in life and I want you to know how much I
appreciate what you do. Last year was my first year to volunteer when you come to Manhattan but I plan to help each year if at all possible.
Thank you again,
Paula W.

Just a quick update. 'We' (our son) had the ablation done yesterday at Children's Mercy. We were lucky enough to get the first surgery of the day and were able to come home last night. The doctor got quite the surprise though as they went in expecting to find 1 extra electrical pathway but instead found 3 which we were told is pretty uncommon. Reece is doing great, the doctor is wonderful and has told Reece he can participate fully in summer football camps and conditioning. We will follow up in the clinic in August.
Thank you again so much for all you do and you are more than welcome to share any/all of our story with everyone to help spend the word.
Paula
PS-see you in September

I remember the first time I volunteered at Anthony Bates Foundation, I was so nervous. It was my first time interacting with "real" patients. After scanning a few people, I felt so much more comfortable. The second time volunteering was absolutely amazing. Not only does this foundation save lives, but it builds confidence in soon-to-be sonographers, including myself. Because of your foundation, I feel much more confident in myself & my work. It pushes me to keep studying, learning, and doing my best. You guys are more amazing than you know. Thank you so much.

Sharon, We are pleased to enclose a check to the Anthony Bates Foundation to support your efforts to save young people through the early detection of heart defects. We became familiar with the Anthony Bates Foundation when our children were still in high school and a teammate of our son suffered a "SCA." Our son's high school, Bishop Blanchet HS in Seattle, subsequently conducted a fundraiser to supply defibrillators on campus. We are unsure whether our son's teammate suffered from undetected hypertrophic cardiomyopathy but his heart emergency and your organization alerted us to the need for heart checkups in young people. We hope that our donation will be useful to any young people who are able to take advantage of your detection services.
Most Sincerely,
Kevin & Linda W.

Sharon, You are a blessing to keep Anthony's memory alive as you work to save lives. You are an example to others as your giving spirit is contagious and I pray generates good health for others.

Hi Sharon, I have to tell you again how what you are doing makes a difference, even in just one life, one family!!! As I mentioned before, my family attended the screenings at PV High School. When the email came out about the next one at Cactus High I let some good friends of ours know as their husband/dad had possibly some issues and hadn't had it checked. They all went, and for the most part things are good-a few high blood pressure to watch. They then let another family know about the Cactus High screening as their son had passed out on the football field the prior year. Their family was able to attend. What they didn't know is that the dad would be sent immediately to the hospital, no stopping, just go....the next morning he had multiple bypass surgery and the "widow maker" was the main blockage. I get emotional just writing this knowing that a life of a husband, a father was saved. My heart goes out to you for your loss, I can't even imagine... but in your loss you have found the ability to be strong and to direct your energies to helping others. I thank you for what you are doing. In saving the life of my dear friends good friends husband....thank you!!!

Hi, Sharon,
I took part in your heart screening session at Cautus HS this past Saturday. I'm happy to say all was well with my heart. I did want to take the time to compliment you on how well and smoothly everything was organized and run. I was there when the EKG computer decided to act up and, with quick actions, the back up was cleared up in a short amount of time. Everyone involved throughout my visit was so very upbeat and positive.
I also wanted to express my sympathy at the loss of Anthony. I'm sure you miss him and think about him every day. Thank you for taking your grief and putting it to work to help others. This is a wonderful and kind thing you are doing. I wish you and the foundation contiued success.
"Heartfelt" thanks, Angie

Sharon- Thanks for the opportunity last week at Cactus HS to educate my staff with basic lifesaving skills along with the use of an AED. We are absolutely grateful that we got this opportunity to have a device on our campus. Hope we never have to use it… however, we are resting easier knowing we have one. We appreciate your dedication to the mission of saving lives.

Good Morning Sharon,
I can’t thank you enough for the opportunity you provided us through the Anthony Bates Foundation. I am so proud of my fellow staff members. Most of them don’t have any medical background and yet they felt compelled to step forward and become heroes. We have installed our AED and although we don’t look forward to needing to use it, we feel prepared if we do. Thank you so much for the work you do and will continue to do. What a beautiful way to continue to honor Anthony. So many people have now “met” your son and have become better people as a result. Here is a picture of our team. We stand at the ready….
